Every year on June 21, United Way invites all Americans to LIVE UNITED and take action in their communities. You can PLEDGE TO volunteer. You can ADVOCATE. You can GET INFORMED AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.

This Saturday, June 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the public is invited to attend the 2014 Day of Action Volunteer Fair held at the Community Reformed Church in Charlevoix (U.S. 31 North at Meech St.). This event is sponsored by Char-Em United Way, Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity, and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties (a program of Friendship Centers of Emmet County). Organizers hope that the fair will become an annual event that encourages area citizens to get involved in their communities.

The Fair will feature local volunteer opportunities for all ages. Organizations that will be represented at the fair include:  American Red Cross, Angel Ambassadors, Bergmann Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Boulder Park Terrace, Challenge Mountain, Char-Em United Way, Charlevoix Area Community Pool, Department of Human Services, Grandvue Medical Care Facility, Habitat for Humanity of NW Michigan, Lions Club-Charlevoix, Northern Homes Community Development Corporation, Northwest  Michigan Community Action Agency, RSVP, and Wellspring Lutheran Services.

There is no cost for the Day of Action Volunteer Fair. A concession will be available with proceeds to benefit the Community Reformed Church Youth Groups. There will also be door prizes given away to attendees at the conclusion of the event.
