We are looking for a volunteer to reconcile our bank statements each month. 

Do you like event planning? Marketing? Finance? Want to put your skills to work for a good cause while gaining valuable experience? Char-Em United Way is looking for people to assist with planning events and fundraisers, promoting our organization and helping with the behind the scenes work that makes our organization successful. We are searching for dedicated volunteers to join our planning teams for finance, special events, marketing, and more. This would only require a commitment of about 4 hours a month, and would be a great way to exercise your skills or develop new ones. We can work with you to find a position that fits your interests or area of expertise.

Habitat for Humanity is looking for folks who have a passion for fundraising and events to join our Raise the Roof Committee. Raise the Roof is a large event put on annually at Stafford's Perry in June to help us raise funds for building homes throughout the year. This committee will help us to plan and execute this year’s event and will handle a variety of work including planning a large live auction, marketing, sponsorship, distribution and pick up of materials, and other tasks as they arise. Citizen Scientist volunteers are needed for our Volunteer Stream Monitoring program. No prior experience required. Free training is offered in the spring and fall. For details, contact David Edwards, 231-347-1181 or email davide@watershedcouncil.org

During the training, volunteers learn about the various aspects of our stream monitoring program, general macroinvertebrate biology, and the equipment used to collect important data about the health of our local streams. A hands-on practicum on the Bear River is included so that volunteers can “get their feet wet” before going into the field.

Time commitment: 2-4, 4-hour days in the spring and fall working with a stream team to collected important stream data and aquatic macroinvertebrates.

Volunteer works 4 ½-5 hours, 1-2 days per week, under the guidance of the Gift Shop Manager.  He/she provides a welcome and comforting environment for patients, visitors and colleagues, utilizing their ability to be friendly, caring, and responsive to every customer. He/she will serve customers, utilize cash register, credit card machine, and collect cash money from sales; assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the Gift Shop, open/close the Gift Shop, rearrange displays, price merchandise, restock shelves, and receive telephone orders, for delivery.

Please consider joining our volunteer team. Hospice of Michigan volunteers make such a difference in so many ways to a person facing end of life. Volunteers provide much needed companionship to patients - and their families love the support given by them. We are looking for a volunteer to come in every other week to organize, clean up and put away linens in our linen room. Volunteers are welcome to do this work anytime during store hours: Monday - Friday 9:30 - 5:30 and Saturday 9:30 - 3:30. If you are interested in helping out with this, we are happy to work with you schedule. 

The Habitat ReStore is looking for volunteers to help on the Habitat truck. You must be able to lift 25-50 lbs and work in a team setting. We are looking for volunteers on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 - 4. 

The Habitat ReStore is looking for volunteers to help assist customers with loading merchandise, unloading donations and cleaning, testing and putting away donations. Volunteers are needed during store hours: Monday - Friday 9:30 - 5:30 and Saturday 9:30 - 3:30. Volunteers can help all day, a half day or for a few hours during the day.

Summary Responsibilities of Habitat for Humanity Board Members:

Transportation Specialists travel across the Northern portion of this great state to deliver life saving blood products to local hospitals. Most runs are scheduled although sometimes we must provide blood in an emergency, last minute situation. American Red Cross vehicles are required for use when traveling with blood. Volunteer drivers not only help save lives but also help save money for the organization. Typically a volunteer driver can be on the road between 2-5 hours. All volunteering is based off your availability. Help is always needed!

Individuals will use their own vehicles to provide transportation to seniors, age  55+ in Emmet County, for them to get to non-medical emergency appointments, shopping, social events, etc. To apply please go to bayconnect.org then click on the "Volunteer" tab where you will be able to fill out and submit your application. Once you clear a background and driver's check we will contact you. You will receive a mileage reimbursement for your time.
